Monday 07 December 2020

Dear parents/carers,

Adjusted reopening of William Ford School

As some of you will be aware, sadly we have had more cases of COVID-19 reported to us over the weekend meaning we have had to adjust our reopening schedule.  We are confident that, due to the period of closure we have had, we should not need to make any further changes although this cannot be guaranteed.  The adjustments made have been caused by some staff and some pupils testing positive.  Please be aware that not all of these cases relate to William Ford and some have been tracked to family members and other situations outside of the school.

Due to the amount of cleaning that is required, the availability of teaching staff and the need to ensure we have adequate numbers of first aiders, leadership and those trained in pupil safeguarding, our staggered return to school will now begin on Monday 14th December 2020.  This provides further time to break any chains of infection but also allows pupils time with their friends before the Christmas break.

Unless your child has been advised to isolate for longer, we now welcome back the following classes on the following days in December:

Day

Class returns

Monday 14th

3M*, 4I, 5H, 6H, 6L, 6N

Tuesday 15th

3D, 3A, 4R, 4A

Friday 18th

5B, 5P

*Unless you received contact from the school advising your child to isolate for longer.

All the above dates include isolation periods for all classes where there has been a positive case.  Please be reminded that other classes do not need to isolate. Whilst not attending school, pupils should continue with remote learning using Purple Mash.

Could I also ask that you alert any other parents you may be in contact with regards to this letter?  We have had some children arrive at school today due to some email providers categorising this letter as spam/junk.

Once again, can I thank you for your continued support and flexibility at this time.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. David Huntingford
