Year Four
Year 4 had had another hard-working week.
What we have learnt about this week
This week, the children have completed a series of history lessons for the leed up of our trip to Colchester Castle. During these lessons, the children have looked at why Britain was invaded by the Romans and written a persuasive speech to Emperor Claudius. They then worked collaboratively in drama to create a freeze frame of Julius Caesar showing how he was unsuccessful and Claudias who was successful. In the last lesson, they then explored who Boudicca was and why she was important.
In science, the children investigated tooth decay and set up their class experiments to monitor how different liquids affect the enamel on our teeth.
The children also had the privilege to listen to a talk from one of our parents who is a Dental nurse, where they have learnt why it is important to look after their teeth.
The children have concluded their unit on decimals and will be moving onto their next unit after half term.
During RE, children looked at the significance of a family and how each family are different. They then designed their own family crest with things that are important to them.
We also had the exciting opportunity to watch the Year 3 classes perform their Royal Ballet dances. A huge well done to all of Year 3 for their fantastic performances!
What we will learn about next week
In English, the children will begin their new book called ‘Revolt against the Romans’. They will be writing a character description and a diary extract about the first chapter.
In maths, children will be using their knowledge of decimals in their new unit for money. They will also be converting pound and pence.
In RE, the children will be concluding their unit on marriage and completing their assessment piece using Lego!
Our science unit will also be concluding, and the children will be looking at the digestive system.
We also have an exciting trip to Colchester Castle on Tuesday 2nd June. Please could children be in school for 8.30am to be registered and ready to leave.
