Dear parents and carers,

And just like that, another year is done. Pupils will be breaking up for the summer holiday on Tuesday 21st July at 1.30pm, and this will be our final newsletter of the year. Before anything else, I want to say a genuine and heartfelt thank you to every parent, carer, pupil and member of staff for your support, encouragement and commitment to William Ford over the past year. It has been a remarkable one, and none of what we have achieved would have been possible without all of you.

A Week to Remember
Even in this final stretch, we have managed to pack an enormous amount in. Ford Fest International, Sports Day, our school concert, the Year 6 Leavers' Production and the Year 6 Leavers' Party have all taken place this week, and every single one of them has been a celebration worth having. It has been a wonderful, joyful end to what has been an exceptional year. If you would like to see photos and find out more about any of these events, please do visit our brand new school website at www.williamfordschool.co.uk. The site has only recently gone live and we are updating it all the time, so do keep checking back and please do let us know what you think.

Building Works
It will not have gone unnoticed that we have had builders on site this week. We have had to begin work during term time in order to give our contractors the best possible chance of completing everything before the new academic year begins in September. The works include converting our science room into a new classroom, complete with skylights and a full refit; significant development work to Room 3M, which is becoming part of our Lighthouse provision; full renewal of the seating area in the playground opposite the Year 4 and 5 classes; and improvements to the playground for our Lighthouse pupils. It has been a busy site alongside a busy school, and we are grateful for everyone's patience. We cannot wait to see the finished results in September.

Saying Goodbye
We say farewell this week to two groups of people who are very dear to us. First, to Miss Albany, who is leaving to explore a new direction outside of teaching. Miss Albany has been a fantastic member of our team, working across year groups, supporting our Lighthouse provision, attending residentials and school trips, and giving so much of herself to the children in her care. We wish her every happiness and hold her in our thoughts and prayers as she embarks on this new chapter.

And to our Year 6 pupils: what a journey it has been. You arrived at William Ford as bright-eyed Year 3s, and you leave us as young people we are enormously proud of. Every single one of you has something special to offer the world, and we have no doubt that you will go and do wonderful things. You will always be part of the William Ford family. We send you on your way with our love and our prayers.

We wish every family a wonderful, restful and enjoyable summer holiday. See you in September.

As we reach the end of another busy and successful school year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our families for your continued support, encouragement and partnership throughout the year. Working together makes such a positive difference to the children's learning and wellbeing.

We are incredibly proud of everything the children have achieved this year. They have worked hard, shown resilience, embraced new challenges and created many wonderful memories along the way.

We hope you all have a safe, relaxing and enjoyable summer holiday. Whether you're travelling, spending time with family and friends, or simply enjoying a slower pace, we hope it is filled with fun, laughter and plenty of opportunities to make special memories together.

Thank you once again for being part of our school community. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in September, refreshed and ready for another exciting year.

Have a wonderful summer.

SATS results were delayed by the government. However, they have now been received and processed and will be available on Monday. They will be sent home with the pupils at the end of the school day.

Year Three

Year Four

It has been another busy week.  Pupils enjoyed Ford Fest on Tuesday and also had the opportunity to watch the fantastic year 6 performance. The pupils also enjoyed their end of term class parties.

What we have learnt about this week

In English, the pupils have completed the work on adverbs and fronted adverbials.

In science, the pupils have completed the ‘Plants’ unit by learning about seed dispersal. They have also been working on a keynote to present what they have learned throughout the unit.

In geography, the pupils have used their map skills to compare maps of Dagenham and Walton on the Naze.

In maths, the pupils have been looking at pictograms, tables and graphs.  They have also been using all four operations to practise their arithmetic skills.

What we will learn about next week

It has been an absolute pleasure to teach the Year 3 pupils this year.  We have watched them all grow in confidence and develop new skills.  We hope you all have a restful summer and wish the children all the best for Year 4.

We will be finishing at 1:30pm on Tuesday 21st July.

It has been a busy final full week in year 4 with the children enjoying lots of different activities.

What we have learnt about this week

On Monday the children enjoyed a fantastic performance of the year 6 leavers production! Well done to all the Year 6 children involved and good luck on your new adventure in secondary school.

In History we have completed our unit on The Romans where the children reflected on what they have learnt and thought about reasons why The Romans left Britian and what Legacy they left behind.

We also completed out unit in RE. The children looked at how prophets gave people hope for the future. They then worked in small groups to create freeze frames of their learning to sequence and explain how Christians believe Jesus reversed ‘The Fall’.

In maths the children have been learning about time. They have been looking at how to convert time from an analogue clock to digital, converting seconds into minutes and minutes into hours.

On Tuesday children enjoyed a fun fill afternoon at Ford Fest, where they were able to earn stamps from around the world for a prize.

Our Art unit has also been completed, and the children have created some beautiful wax pattern designs.

What we will learn about next week

It has been an absolute pleasure to teach the Year 4 pupils this year.  We have enjoyed watching them all grow in confidence and develop new skills throughout the year.  We hope you all have a restful summer and wish the children all the best for their new adventure into year 5!

Please don’t forget we will be finishing at 1:30pm on Tuesday 21st July.

Year Five

Year Six

What a wonderful week we have had in Year 5! The children have worked incredibly hard, showing enthusiasm, creativity and determination across all areas of the curriculum. We are very proud of everything they have achieved.

What we have learnt about this week

This week, the children created their own magical wonders inspired by The Nowhere Emporium. They used their imaginations to design unique and imaginative creations, and it was fantastic to see their creativity shine.

In Maths, the children explored volume by counting cubes, practised their times tables, and developed their understanding of time by converting between different units.

In History, the children considered what life might have been like during the Islamic Golden Age. They shared their learning through a range of creative projects, including comics, storyboards, dramas, diary entries and even impressive LEGO models. It was wonderful to see the thought and effort that went into their work.

In Science, the children explored the life cycle of a butterfly, learning about each stage of its amazing transformation.

In Reading, we continued our class novel, The Nowhere Emporium, enjoying the exciting plot and discussing our predictions and ideas about the story.

What we will learn about next week

Next week, the children will enjoy their final few days in Year 5 before moving up to Year 6. It has been a pleasure to watch them flourish throughout the year and make such fantastic progress. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and know they are ready for the exciting challenges that Year 6 will bring.

We hope you all have a wonderful, restful summer break and return refreshed and ready for the autumn term. Thank you for your continued support throughout the year, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in September.

Wow! We cannot believe that was our final full week with the Year 6’s. We have had a great last week with the children.

What we have learnt about this week

It has been a truly memorable and emotional final full week for our Year 6 children. We began by celebrating Ford Fest International, where the children enjoyed a fantastic range of games and activities around the playground. It was wonderful to see so many pupils proudly wearing clothing that celebrated their cultural heritage and sharing in the experience of tasting foods from different cultures. The day was a brilliant reminder of the rich diversity within our school community and one that everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

This week also saw the children perform their end-of-year production for the younger year groups before taking to the stage one final time for their parents and families. We could not be more proud of them. Their confidence, enthusiasm and teamwork shone through in every performance, and all of the hard work they have put into rehearsals over the past few weeks was evident for everyone to see. It was a fitting celebration of their time at junior school and a performance that will be remembered with great pride. Alongside this, the children began rehearsing for next week's Leavers' Service and ended the week in style with a wonderful Leavers' Party. Filled with music, dancing, laughter, delicious food, a fun photo booth with props, bubbles floating across the playground and team games on the sports field, it was a joyful afternoon that celebrated the friendships and memories they have made together.

What we will learn about next week

Next week brings the final chapter of our Year 6 children's journey at junior school. They will share their Leavers' Service with parents and families, reflecting on their time here and giving thanks for the friendships, experiences and opportunities that have shaped them. They will also complete their special school yearbooks, capturing treasured memories and messages from friends before saying their final goodbyes as they prepare to begin an exciting new adventure at secondary school.

As they leave us, we hope each and every child does so knowing just how proud we are of them. They have grown not only in knowledge and confidence, but also in kindness, resilience and character. Watching them flourish has been a privilege, and although we are excited to see what the future holds for them, they will be greatly missed by everyone at William Ford School. On behalf of the entire Year 6 team, thank you to the children for making this such a special year and to parents and carers for your continued support throughout their school journey. We wish every one of our Year 6 children happiness, success and every blessing as they take their next steps.
