FordFest International brings the world to William Ford
This week saw the very first FordFest International, a brand new summer fair designed by the pupils, for the pupils, and what a wonderful way to celebrate the end of the school year.
The idea came from the children themselves, who wanted an event with a real international flavour, a chance to celebrate the huge range of cultures and heritages that make up our school community. Pupils arrived dressed in national dress from across the globe, and it was a joy to see so many different countries represented with such pride.
None of it would have been possible without our parents, many of whom gave their time to prepare and serve food from their home countries, with dishes from Ghana, Nigeria, India and many more on offer throughout the day. The smells alone were enough to make your mouth water, and the queues told their own story about how much it was appreciated.
Staff threw themselves into the spirit of the day too, running activities and games each themed around a different continent, giving children the chance to explore the world without leaving the playground. Thank you also to our catering provider for their support in helping the day run so smoothly.
FordFest International was a brilliant celebration of everything that makes our school community special, and we are already looking forward to next year's.
