William Ford selected to feature in Jamie Oliver's upcoming documentary due to its inclusive ethos and its screening and support for dyslexic pupils.
You may have seen the adverts on Channel 4 for Jamie’s Dyslexia Revolution, a brand-new documentary exploring the experiences of people living with dyslexia, and the changes still needed in education and society. We are now delighted to share that William Ford Church of England Junior School was the only school selected across the entire UK to feature in this important programme.
William Ford was chosen due to the high level of support we provide, not only for pupils with dyslexia but for our inclusive approach to education more broadly. The programme highlights the range of targeted interventions and support strategies available in our school, as well as the creative and purposeful way we approach the curriculum.
Jamie Oliver and his team visited William Ford on two occasions, once in mid-January and again in February. They filmed in and around the school, capturing our themed learning environments, including our space-themed area, the Lego learning zone, and our forest-inspired library. They also took part in a live interview on our school radio station, chatted to staff and pupils, and even gave a special careers talk for children in our Lighthouse Provision on working behind the camera.
Footage was also filmed at an event held at the Houses of Parliament, attended by Mr Huntingford, Mrs Beech, and three of our pupils, where they spoke about the importance of inclusive education and the support they receive.
We hope that the documentary will not only raise greater awareness of dyslexia, but also help drive improvements in funding and provision for all children with neurodiverse needs.
Jamie’s Dyslexia Revolution will be broadcast on Monday 9th June 2025 at 9:00pm on Channel 4. The programme is aimed at adult viewers, but parents may wish to record parts of it to share with their children the following day.
