Inspiring Careers and Believing in Your Dreams

This week, William Ford C of E Junior School was delighted to welcome Amit Kalley into school to speak to pupils about his career journey and the importance of believing in your dreams.

Amit works as a digital parenting expert and storyteller. He shared how ADHD was not a barrier to his success and spoke openly about his identity as a turban-wearing Sikh gentleman. His message to pupils was clear. Background, culture, religion or labels should never stop anyone from achieving their ambitions.

Amit explained how his passion for children, technology and online safety shaped his career. What began as something he cared deeply about has become his life’s work, helping families and schools understand how to use technology safely and positively.

During Collective Worship, pupils were encouraged to reflect on what they feel passionate about. They discussed important issues such as disability awareness, racism, environmental protection, global poverty and hunger. Pupils were challenged to consider how raising awareness of these issues could one day form part of their own future careers.

The visit strongly reinforced our school’s commitment to raising aspirations and helping every child see that their future is full of possibility, regardless of background, race, culture, religion or gender.

We are also pleased to announce that Amit will be returning to William Ford on Safer Internet Day, Tuesday 10th February. He will be leading sessions for pupils, providing staff training and delivering an online session for parents to support families in keeping children safe online.

We would like to thank Amit for being such an inspiring role model for our pupils and for sharing his story with honesty and warmth.
