The William Ford DJs Are Back

The mic is warming up — William Ford Radio is almost back on air.

Every September, we look forward to welcoming back Russell from Anderton Tiger Radio, and this year was no different. Russell services our radio equipment and works with our newest DJs to train them up in everything they need to know, from cueing up music and conducting interviews to sharing news and keeping our listeners entertained throughout the school day.

Our radio station is one of the things that makes William Ford genuinely unique. It gives children an authentic voice and a real audience, building confidence, communication skills and a sense of responsibility in a way that very little else can. We hope that our newly trained DJs will, in turn, pass on their skills to other children across the school as the year progresses.

However, we did want to let parents know that due to the building works that have run over from the summer, our radio station will not be back in its usual home and fully operational until the end of September. Our DJs are currently based in a temporary location where they are able to practise and develop their skills, but broadcasting to parents and pupils is on pause for now. We are very much looking forward to being back on air, bringing music and programmes to parents at the start and end of the school day and to pupils throughout breaks and lunchtimes. Watch this space.
