Layers of the Rainforest

This week Shelby and Davianna tell us about their learning in geography.

We have been learning about tropical rainforests.  This week, we learned about the layers of the rainforest.  Did you know that there are four layers, and they are called: the emergent layer, the canopy, the understory and the forest floor?  Different animals live in different layers. For example, tropical birds are found in the emergent layer and monkeys live in the canopy.  The understory is cooler and darker and the forest floor is the darkest and dampest layer.  We enjoyed making a collage to show the different layers, and we also wrote about them too.
