"Dream big, work hard, ask for help": Brenda Lee Henderson inspires William Ford pupils
Dream big. Work hard. Ask for help. Three simple ideas, but ones that Brenda Lee Henderson made land with real weight for our children this week.
Brenda is a Senior Banking Professional and Associate Director, as well as a Magistrate and Church of England Sacristan. She came in to talk to our pupils about the world of corporate banking, using McDonald's as a familiar example to help the children understand how a major company manages its money day to day. She also introduced them to her work as a magistrate, giving them a glimpse into a second career that most had never encountered before.
Brenda's message to the children was clear and one we hope they carry with them. Dream big, and never limit yourself or what you might become. Work hard, because nothing worth having comes without effort. And ask for help when you need it, because succeeding in life is rarely something anyone does entirely alone.
She also spoke openly about her Christian faith, and the importance of having Christians present in every area of working life, including banking and the courts.
We are very grateful to Brenda for giving up her time and for opening our children's eyes to two career paths in a single morning.
